Finally, the biggest day for DOTA gamers… Valve announced DOTA2 first tournament shown in public called “THE INTERNATIONAL” on August 17th - 21st at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany.
16 Dota teams will competing in DOTA2 Championships through group stage, double elimination playoff format in five days.

And the winning team will receive $1 million. WHAT??
“The International is the first public Dota 2 event and will give the tens of millions of gamers playing Dota around the world their first look at the new game,” said Gabe Newell, president and founder of Valve. “I have had the good fortune to watch the competitors as they prepare for the tournament, and the level of play is extraordinary”
NVidia will provide all the hardware and cash prizes awardede by Valve.
When DOTA2 will be available? We have to wait later this year…

While the initial announcement of Dota 2 caused shockwaves in the DotA community, many have a few question left an unanswered. Not to worry, IceFrog clears some of them in the game’s very own website which can be found here.


As promised by IceFrog, he’ll answer a few question regarding Dota 2 in due course and that time is now! Quite a large number of question were answered including reconnection issues, replay seeking, regional support and hardware requirements. One of the biggest revelation is beta testing. The frog promises we will be able to test the game before the release date in the future. Below are a few extracts.

So far there has been no information released regarding IceFrog’s latest DotA project with Valve. But now we get a trickle of information via Jon St. John’s, better known as the voice behind Duke Nukem, twitter account.
